I create physical works of black and greywork design focused thematically on the human experience of generating expression through symbolism. Within society we often understand each other through how we express ourselves- while it should be for our thoughts and actions- most often it is through the physical expression in which we are defined by others. I desire to take this idea of the physical expression of oneself into the hands of each person through our self-proclaimed symbols, or through a tattoo on one’s body. We are not simply the body we are born into, and we are completely intertwined with the world around us through the symbols we generate our own meaning through.
The most passion I have within the art I do is toward the process of creating and executing a tattoo. This is mainly due to the physicality of the work, the permanency of the work, and the process through which I create the designs is almost always representational and profound.
My art exists within this realm as a representation of how I see the world and how I believe I should live my life within it. Tattooing for me is representational of a physical deeper and connective ability all humans have to understand oneself, and through the process of making them, I am consistently learning more about how we deduct meaning through symbolism within the extent of the human experience.
I was born in Denver, Colorado to a family that valued creativity and expression. I was a multi-sport athlete throughout my entire childhood and balanced this with a constant desire to make art. I grew up in my studies with a passion for doing art and learning about people before attending Regis University.
At Regis, studied communication with a focus in business marketing and human welfare, and dedicated my minor studies to pursuing fine arts. I have a deep passion for helping other people no matter how big or small, through my words or through my art, whenever I can. I plan to continue to incorporate these ideals within my art and career; to bridge these concepts continually as I continue my quest to creation.
From spending hours in the Georgia O'Keefe Museum trying to replicate her paintings on my sketchpad, to drawing all over my body in sharpie while at a swim meet- I was consistently creating from a space of self expression. I've gotten the privilege of studying under amazing artists who've helped me in my fine arts abilities, as well as the trajectory of my art as its started to hone in on the tattoo medium in addition to my other medium.
The more I create, the more I wish to blur the lines between what "types" of art I make. I've started paintings that finish as drawings, and even started sculptures that turned into tattoos. For your sake however, I distinguished them in the art gallery menu above by the general idea of tattoo, drawings+designs, sculpture, and mixed medias- which includes mediums like paint and digital works.
